Communication

The act of giving, receiving or exchanging information ideas and opportunities. 


constructivism

This is the learning that is based on what the learner already knows. This the foundation over which more learning is based. The learner is more active, hence learner-centred.

Project

Project is small range of activities design for an individual or a group of people to develop a specific skills over a given period of time.


Project Based Learning

Project-based learning (PBL) is considered an alternative to paper-based, rote memorization, teacher-led classrooms. Proponents of project-based learning cite numerous benefits to the implementation of these strategies in the classroom including a greater depth of understanding of concepts, broader knowledge base, improved communication and interpersonal/social skills, enhanced leadership skills, increased creativity, and improved writing skills.

Welcome to Unit 6: ICT Tools to Support Project Based Learning

Welcome to Unit 6 on ICT Tools to Support Project Based Learning. In this Unit you will investigate what Project Based Learning (PBL) is, the principles it is founded on and how to use it effectively in the classroom. You will identify and describe ICT Tools that support Project Based Learning. You are also expected to describe how collaborative, project based and ICT can support student thinking and social interaction

You are expected to participate  in a chat scheduled on  Thursday the 26th of March 2015 from 14h00 to 15h00 (2.00 pm to 3.00 pm) Kenyan time.  While in the chat you will discuss how you see project based learning fitting into your lesson planning and where could you use it in the syllabus?

You will also participate in a discussion forum and discuss how to overcome problem based learning (PBL) Challenges.

This unit is quite interesting and I encourage you to participate actively in all the sessions. If you need any clarification, do not hesitate to ask.
