I teach std seven English in Thanju Primary school, Kirinyaga Country. Some of the overarching values that shape this curriculum are:-
1. Development and appreciation of the environment. The learners are supposed to appreciate the need to conserve the environment especially when they are learning about desert vocabulary
2.Respect the dignity of work. This can be seen when learners are learning about "Profession" , "Farming", "At the police station", and "Banking", all being topics in their English Curriculum.
3.Respect and love for own country harmonious co-existence. This is displayed in the topic on Games, Library, Agriculture, Tourist Attraction
4. Role of Technology in national development. This is seen in the topics of Technology, Air Travel, Sea Travel and Banking
