What are Authoring Tools?
E-learning is becoming a mode of teaching by many education institutions. Through e-learning students are able to learn anywhere and it also reduces costs for institutions in terms of increasing the size of their physical structures to handle capacity of students. To have an e-Learning environment one needs to create content using an authoring tool.
Simply put an ICT authoring tool is any computer program used to create content for others to learn from this can range from a video, text documents, power point presentation or an audio file. Anything that a teacher creates for their class, or that students create to demonstrate learning, using a digital application can be considered a product of e-learning.
Teachers should be familiar with a number of publishing options including; Web Pages, Blogs, Wikis and then should look at eXe (HTML Editor), MySpace, Blogger and the web publishing facilities in MS Word and PowerPoint.
