Professional learning

The additional skills and knowledge which teachers acquire in their work, beyond what they learnt to become qualified teachers.  Teachers can gain this additional knowledge and skill in various ways, through courses, programmes, conferences, seminars, events and workshops, from colleagues, through experience and experimentation, personal research and reflection, and through membership of professional networks and associations.  Sometimes referred to as ‘professional development’ or ‘CPD’ (continuous professional development)
